Bauhaus.SOLAR 2012: Energy concepts for redevelopment of residential areas and city centres

Call for Papers for International Congress until 15th April 2012

Erfurt - On 13th and 14th November 2012, Bauhaus.SOLAR will be a platform for interdisciplinary dialogue among architects, planners, civil engineers, technicians, designers and representatives of the solar, real estate and financial industries for the fifth time. Applicants are invited to submit their presentations for the congress by the 15th April 2012.

In the exiting area of architecture, city planning, renewable energy supply and energy efficiency, this year the congress is focussing on the subject of the "Redevelopment of residential areas and city centres". New approaches will be explored for area-specific solutions with the aim of designing sustainable, integrated overall concepts that take into consideration energetic as well as energy-efficient, urban development, housing industry and social aspects in equal measure.

"The transformation of the energy system can also be found in urban centres," says Dr. Hubert Aulich, Chairman of SolarInput, an industry network based in Thuringia. "Renewable energy supply is increasing in residential areas and in city centres and new concepts are required. Photovoltaics play an essential role in the provision of this energy and are able to be fully integrated aesthetically into buildings and roofs."

The Bauhaus-Universität Weimar is the scientific partner of Bauhaus.SOLAR. The Rector Professor Karl Beucke believes that building and city concepts must be re-thought. "Through profound research projects, the subjects of renewable energy supply, energy efficiency and the conservation of resources must be firmly established in university research and teaching. In partnership with the construction industry, sustainable solutions will then be able to be identified for buildings and cities."

With the call for papers, architects, planners, civil engineers, technicians, designers, users and representatives of the solar, real estate and financial industries are invited to submit pioneering concepts, projects and research work at the congress.

Presentations and (research) projects can be submitted on the following subjects by 15th April for the 5th International Congress Bauhaus.SOLAR 2012:

• Large-/ housing developments
• Landmarked quarters
• Objects in context

Innovative references to architecture, structural elements, building laws, fire prevention, energy efficiency, photovoltaics, renewable energy supply, technology and economic efficiency are to be emphasised in the submissions.

SolarInput invites you to the International Congress Bauhaus.SOLAR together with the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, Thüringer Energie- und GreenTech-Agentur (ThEGA) and Messe Erfurt. The importance of the Bauhaus.SOLAR congress continues to grow from year to year. In the past years for example, participant and exhibitor numbers have both risen rapidly, not to mention the increasing media response. This year, the two-day event is expected to be visited by around 400 participants from all over the world.
